Digital Photography: Lightroom Basics
Lightroom is an excellent workflow and image management program with capable cataloguing and keywording functionality which makes it easy to keep track of your images. This 4 week course will show you how to use it.
What the course is about
You will learn a variety of image editing techniques. Lightroom uses non-destructive editing, which means you can make changes to a photo without permanently altering the original file. If you work with raw files, you'll benefit from the flexibility editing images without damaging the original photo.without losing the original data.
Pre-course information session or interview
Learners for this course may well have progressed from our Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3 Digital Photography courses. This course assumes learners will start with a basic grasp of image editing techniques.
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.
There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
This course assumes a basic knowledge of digital photography and so is suitable for those with some experience and those progressing from beginner courses in our portfolio.
Materials and costs
You will need a device with a camera and a cable for connecting it to a computer. Learners would be well advised to check whether their home computers would be capable of loading Lightroom e.g. processor with 64-bit and SSE 4.2 support; 2 GHz or faster processor, Windows 10 (64 bit) version 22H2 or later, 8 or more GB or RAM amd 10GB of Hard disk space.

Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
