A 16-hour Auto-assessed course for learners who want improve their knowledge of supporting people in a health care setting.
What the course is about
A structured, interactive, virtual, auto-assessed course that provides skills, knowledge and understanding in a number of subjects including the safe handling of medicine, understanding dementia, prevention and control of infection as well as safeguarding legislation.

This course supports you to gain background knowledge and understanding required for supporting people in a health care setting.
Each learner will work at their own speed but will be supported by the Employability and Progression Officer, Nicky Ellison, nellison@salbcp.com if required.
You will receive an e-certificate of achievement on completion of all the assessments.

Pre-course information session or interview
Learners need to be able to use a computer, you will be asked to complete a Learning Agreement prior to the course.
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
There are assessments to complete on this course which will be marked automatically. You must complete and pass all assessments in order to receive your certificate.

This course is for anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of key concepts in health care including relevant legislation.
You should have an interest in your own potential and aspirations. You will need to be prepared to take and complete all activities and assessments on the course.
This course may be of particular help to you if you are thinking of changing your career direction towards a role supporting people in a health care setting, particularly those with dementia.

Fully funded learners: if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.
Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
